CSX soon will deploy air-, noise- and vibration-monitoring equipment on public space in several locations along Virginia Avenue SE to gather baseline data for environmental monitoring purposes, consistent with the construction mitigation plans described in the FHWA Record of Decision on the Virginia Avenue Tunnel. Sensors will be deployed for up to two weeks. This activity could begin as soon as February 9.
CSX and the Virginia Avenue Tunnel project team will soon begin performing field activities along the Virginia Avenue corridor, including surveying, recordation of existing conditions, site preparation activities and the installation of project field offices within CSX properties at the east and west ends of the project. February will also see the beginning of material deliveries to the project storage areas in preparation for additional upcoming work in late winter/early spring. These activities are not expected to cause any disruption to the public. Early preparation activities such as utility relocations could begin on public space as early as mid-February. As part of our commitment to the community, we will make announcements about the types and locations of activity in advance of any work taking place.
