The project team continues to make progress with the streetscape restoration and enhancements along the length of the Virginia Avenue corridor. Multiple subcontractors and specialty crafts are working along the length of the project installing infrastructure for new storm drains, stormwater bio-retention areas, curb and gutter, pavement, sidewalks, streetlights, traffic lights, bicycle paths, bio-retention, landscaping and other features. Given the complexity of the urban street environment, at times, you may see some areas that appear to be incomplete and workers are not present. Please rest assured that work teams will follow up to complete the work in accordance with the strict DDOT, DOEE, and other District specifications. Some examples are streetlights (as mentioned last week), brick sidewalks, bike paths, drainage, bio-retention areas, final surface paving, striping, signage, sod, mulching, trees, and shrubs.
