3rd Street Restoration Progress Continues

Work continues to progress on schedule on the street and open-space restoration at the intersection of 3rd Street and Virginia Avenue. Placement of new granite curbing and sidewalks, drainage work and underground preparations for streetlights is well underway.

As part of the final restoration, there will be increased construction activity along 3rd Street south of the Virginia Avenue/3rd Street intersection. In addition to the utility work that has been in-progress, demolition of portions of 3rd Street will be getting underway followed by reconstruction of new pavement, drainage, and other streetscape features. Access from the south to the 3rd Street Capitol Quarter townhome driveway will remain open during this process, though the driveway entrance will be narrowed and there will be considerable construction activity with workers and equipment. Flaggers will be present to assist drivers in the area. CSX urges all drivers to use caution through this intersection. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this process.

CSX appreciates the community’s patience as we work expeditiously toward completing the project and the streetscape enhancements.
