Roadway Reconstruction May Cause Additional Vibrations

As CSX begins the initial steps in restoring Virginia Avenue, DDOT engineering standards require that the soil used to support the roadbed be compacted in place. Due to progress on tunnel construction and removal of the cross-street bridge decks, this activity will soon be taking place. The CSX team is using industry-standard equipment to complete that work, which includes large, heavy rollers that vibrate while they pass over the soil to be compacted. While residents who live closest to the construction area may feel these vibrations, the vibrations are not strong enough to cause damage to nearby structures. CSX continues to monitor the noise, vibration and air-quality adjacent to the site, and will take necessary steps to ensure that work remains within the established parameters for the project.

We will complete this work as quickly as we can, and apologize for any inconvenience this temporary situation may cause.
